Class Evaluation

1. What I liked about this class is that Mr. Haymore always kept the class with a smile on their face. He gave us easy assignments and always made sure that we chose the right no matter what. He taught us the 7 habits and 6 ways to make people like you. I will remember and take charge of these throughout my life.
2. I honestly have no dislikes about the class. I always looked forward to coming into his class and learning something new each day I had him.
3. Some recommendations for the class would be to make the class laugh once in a while and tell stories that maybe something you did over the weekend and the break.
4. The highlight for me in this class was meeting new people and getting to know them more. Another highlight was the Christmas music that Mr. Haymore would play would always get me into the Christmas spirit.
5. I believe although I did get lazy on some parts of the class, I did do my best overall to get a good grade. I put in my deepest thoughts and ideas for each post we had to do.
6. Yes I am reading and writing in both sections of my journal. I always write down goals so I know what exactly I would like to accomplish for myself throughout the years.
7. I am committed to being a CTR person everyday because I want the best in life for me. The only way I am going to be the best is by not making bad choices. I will keep the 7 Habits and 6 Ways in my mind and live life through those two.

Electric Vehicles

I think the invention of electric vehicles has both a positive and a negative outcome. Some positive outcomes would be they are environmentally friendly. The electric cars do not through out pollutants from the outside of the car like trucks or regular gas cars. Another benefit from these cars is they are performance benefits. The electric motors provide quiet, smooth operation and stronger acceleration and require less maintenance than internal combustion engines. Some negative outcomes for the electric cars are the driving range. The range for these cars are typically limited to 60-120 miles on a full charge although some other ones are able to go up to 200-300 miles. Another negative outcome is the recharge time. These cars take 4-8 hours to get a full charge.  In addition, battery cost can be quite expensive as well. If something happens to the battery you will have to change it about 2 times when something wrong happens. The weight will also be con because the battery packs used for these cars and heavy and can take up considerable space. Although the many cons, I believe that these cars will be beneficial because there will be less smoke and pollution coming into our area. They are also time consuming so you only have certain time to use this vehicle and once it's over you must go home and recharge it for the next full charge.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

Habit 1. Be Proactive
"Habit 1 is the key to unlocking all the other habits and that's why it comes first. It says, "I am the captain of my life. I can choose my attitude. I'm responsible for my own happiness and unhappiness. I am in the driver's seat of my destiny, not just a passenger."

Being proactive is about taking responsibility for your life. You make all the decisions when it comes to emotions or problems. Proactive people focus on the main things first and then worry about the little things after. If you were to put the little things in life first, then you wouldn't be able to squeeze in all the bigger things in life. You gotta be time managed. Have a schedule or a planner of what first things you need to get done and then if you have time, you will do the little things after.

Habit 2. Begin with the End in Mind
"Control your own Destiny or someone else will." (Jack Welch)

If you don't control your own destiny then other people will think they are able to tell you what to do no matter what. This refers to always keeping the end of your life in mind to help you evaluate everything else that comes before. you will start to make a plan on how you will get to that point in your life. You have to start things with a clear idea of your destination, so the steps you take towards is in the right direction. No matter what, whether you are busy or having second thoughts you should always be doing what's most important to you. You gotta ask yourself questions to determine your objectives and the reasons behind wanting to achieve them. When you know the way your future will look like for you, then you will be so motivated to continue on your dreams to make your future look the way you want it to look. The future is what should motivate you to do better. You are the only one in charge of your destiny and you shouldn't let anyone else control the things you do. As long as you know that you are in the right direction towards your future then don't let anyone else in the way of that. Sometimes it doesn't hurt to ask for help. If you need it you can ask your mom or a close friend to help you get in the right path. If you let all the bad kids tell you what to do then you will be under their spell. The best thing is for you to walk away from the negativity they bring towards you and do better in life.

Habit 3. Put First Things First
"Organize and Execute around properties"
This habit talks about how you should put the urgent things first. For example if you have a test for one of your classes the next day, you should stay home and study for it. You always put what's important first and then do everything else that isn't important after. You may have an essay due but you chose to listen to music, hang out with your friends etc. That's being a procrastinator. You always say you're going to do it but you get busy doing other things that it never gets done.

Habit 4. Think Win-Win
" Think win-win or no-deal"
This habit is talking about how you should always think positive about yourself and never negative. Positive thoughts will help you be successful in life and it will let you know that you are going to achieve all those goals you have set for yourself. If everyone you know is giving you a hard time then ignore them. Don't let their negative comments affect your way of living and succeeding. Just always keep in mind that you can do it or you are going to make it. That will help you stay confident with your school work by just repeating to yourself those words. In the end you will only have yourself and your happiness. You are the only one that knows what you want to do and how you are going to achieve that. You will be the one to pick yourself up every time that you feel like falling and giving up.

Habit 5. Seek first to Understand, then to be Understood
"Diagnose before you Prescribe"

What this habit is talking about is that you must first understand what is going on and then you will be understood by the people. You can't expect for someone to understand what you are teaching them if you don't understand what you are learning. Before you do anything you must stop to think about what you want to do. If someone is talking to you, you should listen to what they have to say and then add after any comments or questions you have for them. Don't interrupt them if you don't know what is really going on. Don't assume someone is doing good because they have a smile on their face. Take the time to understand what people are going through in order for them to understand you. You both can understand each other by listening first and then talking after. Before you criticize someone, wait until they tell you the whole story. In life there is always going to be a "listen before you speak," a "try before you want to quit" etc. You must know how to do the things before you want to jump into conclusions and judge someone by the outside. Don't judge a book by it's cover will take you a long way. You learn how to take the time to get to know someone without being judgemental.

Habit 6. Synergize
"The whole is greater than the sum of its parts."

To put it simply, synergy means "two heads are better than one." Synergize is the habit of creative cooperation. It is teamwork, open-mindedness, and the adventure of finding new solutions to old problems. But it doesn't just happen on its own. It's a process, and through that process, people bring all their personal experience and expertise to the table. Together, they can produce far better results that they could individually. Synergy lets us discover jointly things we are much less likely to discover by ourselves. It is the idea that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. One plus one equals three, or six, or sixty--you name it.

Habit 7. Sharpen the Saw
Four Dimensions of Self-Renewal: Physical, Mental, Spiritual, Social/Emotional.

Habit 7 is all about keeping your personal self sharp so that you can better deal with life. It means regularly renewing and strengthening the four key dimensions of your life which are your body, brain, heart, and soul. Balance is always better and neglecting certain areas of your life could result in detrimental consequences. To perform at your peak, you need to strive for balance in all four areas. This is so critical and so vital because the quality of one dimension of life ultimately affects the other three. Additionally, you regularly need time to rejuvenate the best thing you've got going for yourself - you. Sharpening the Saw is all about relaxing and unstringing your bow.  Sharpen the Saw keeps you fresh so you can continue to practice the other six habits. You increase your capacity to produce and handle the challenges around you. Without this renewal, the body becomes weak, the mind mechanical, the emotions raw, the spirit insensitive, and the person selfish.

 Final Reflection
These 7 habits are a good way to help better myself. These 7 habits will help me get through life because I know now that I need them to help keep an open mind. For as long as I shall live I will remember to always be proactive. I will show my fellow workers that I know how to take responsibility for my life. I will face challenging moments with the help of them but mostly myself. I will always think about the end so I know where exactly I want to end up doing with my life. No matter how bumpy my road may be, I will always think win-win. I will be confident in what I do. If at first I don't succeed, I will learn the mistakes I did wrong and better myself more. I will seek to understand what I need to then seek to be understood. Everyday of my life I will synergize will my peers and show teamwork together. Finally, I will Sharpen the Saw. Meaning I will keep my body, mind, heart, and soul in balance to help get myself through life. I will always keep myself relaxed and not stressed.

Importance of Setting Goals

Setting goals is important because you will know exactly what you want to do as you continue on with life. Throughout your life, there will be many things you would like to accomplish but eventually you will forget about them and not accomplish anything. By you writing down the goals you would like to accomplish, you can always go back to those goals and it will be a priority to your life. It will be a homework for you to do everyday of your life until you pass away. How would you feel if you wanted to achieve something and you worked your butt off and finally made that goal come true? I know I would feel happy because I will know that I will be able to accomplish anything in life. I could have accomplished them on my own or some people might have helped me. You feel good about yourself accomplishing goals and you will want to accomplish more. You won't let anyone that is negative towards you get in the way because you know you can do it and that's all that matters. Don't let the people that tell you "you're not going to make it" or they start laughing at you get in the way of your success. In fact, prove them wrong so they know that their words don't affect you. You know how to block the goal busters out of your life and keep the goal helpers in. In the end, the only person you will have is yourself because eventually everyone is going to go their separate ways and you will have to learn how to do everything on your own. By setting the goals, it gives you a long term vision and a short term motivation. It focuses on your acquisition of knowledge, and helps you organize your time and your resources so that you can make the most of your life.

Freelance writing

I'm so glad that today is Friday. That means that the weekend is here!! I'm hoping my weekend goes good because tomorrow I have a Halloween party at Oxnard and then on Sunday I'm going to John's Incredible Pizza for my cousin's 6th birthday party. Overall I can't wait to have some fun. Today for our school we wore pink to support Breast Cancer Awareness. There is also a blood drive going on. I wish I had the guts to donate blood but I'm too scared. I have a tendency of overthinking and I do that for the blood drive. I start thinking "Oh what if I faint" or "What if they can't find my vein" etc etc. Next year for sure I am going to donate blood because it's my last year at school and I would like it to be memorable. Yesterday I seen all over my Facebook and Snap chat about the Boys in Blue. I personally am not a baseball fan but I gotta admit they are doing good. Hopefully they can keep it like that and go all the way.

Six Rules to Make People Like You

Rule 1. Become genuinely interested in other people

If you want other people to like you, you must become interested in them. If someone is taking their time to talk to you about their life, be interested. That means that you mean something to them. A lot of people tend to keep their problems to themselves. I know for a fact that I would want someone to show interest when I am talking to them about something. When people notice that you are interested in what they say, they will like you more. It shows that you care about what they say. People will like to talk to you and not get bored because you have good communication skills. This will also show that your listening skills are good as well. A quote that I found says "Surround yourself with people who talk about visions and ideas, not other people." This quote is saying that if the people you are hanging out with talk bad about other people, are they the people you want to be associating with? Be with people that will listen to your story and help you make it better not bring you down. I will apply this rule by having an interest in what people say. I will be a good listener and make sure my friends know that I care about what they have to say.

Rule 2.  Smile

Rule 3.  Remember names
If you want people to like you then you will remember their names. When you meet someone for the first time, you introduce yourself and the first thing you tell them is your name. This will help when you need to ask them for help on something or just want to hang out. A person's name is how you will be able to find them throughout the world. Without knowing the name of someone then you won't be able to get that help that you need. Maybe when someone mentions a person's name, so many memories come back into mind from back then when you guys would hang out. Your name is also how you will go on with life. If you do something good that affects the whole city, everyone will remember who you are. When they see you around, a big smile will appear on their face because they know the change you did in the world. Some ways for you to try to remember people's names are by concentrating on what the person is talking about. When they tell you their name make sure to be paying attention so you won't miss it and have to ask the person again. Another example would be to repeat the name 2-3 times in your head just so that it really sticks in your brain and you won't forget later on.

Rule 4. Be a good listener. Encourage others to talk about themselves
To get people to like you, you must be a good listener. You gotta show the other person that you know how to pay attention to what they have to say. When they are talking about something, you make eye contact with them to show that they have your attention. If you have to say something, let them finish what have to say and then talk after them. If you interrupt them while they are speaking then that's being rude. Show that they have all of your attention because who knows, maybe it's your teacher talking and then she asks you a question to make sure you were paying attention to her lecture. If someone knows that you aren't a good listener then they won't want to take the time to talk to you because they will feel like you don't care. By showing them that you know how to pay attention and care about what they say, they will like you more than when you aren't paying attention. To encourage others to talk about themselves is to make sure they have a high self-esteem. No matter what rude comments people might say about them, they keep their head high and go on with life. They can speak highly about themselves because that's how they feel. They know they are smart, or pretty, or nice because that's what they want to be.

Rule 5. Talk in terms of the other man's interest

By talking in terms of the other man's interest, it shows that you care about their likes and dislikes. It's a way of respect towards them because the other person will know that you listen to what they have to talk about. Even if you don't find it interesting, don't just talk about your interest towards something. You have to give the other person a chance to talk about themselves and the things they find interesting to the things they don't find interesting. When that person is speaking, show that they have all your attention and ask questions if you have to, just to show that you are interested in what he/she is saying. When you take the effort to find out what interests the other person, the reward will be an enlargement of your life each time you speak to someone. The more people will like you when they know that you actually want to know their likes, dislikes, values etc. You take the time to listen and pay attention to what they have to say and that's being respectful. If you both have something that interests you in common, then mention it. The other person would like that you go along with the conversation and see any similarities and differences in each other.

Rule 6. Make the other person feel important--and do it sincerely
What this rule is saying is to always make someone feel like they are important no matter what. No one in their life ever wants to feel like they're unwanted. That makes someone feel bad about themselves because then they stay up in the middle of the night wanting to be like someone they're not. They will feel insecure about themselves, start dressing and speaking differently as well. I know that if someone didn't make me feel important then I would be hurt because everyone in life wants to mean something to someone. Whether it's your family or friends or people you work with or go to school with. No one should ever go through the fact that someone doesn't want them so they need to change their whole appearance. We should show respect towards them. Show that no matter what flaws they may have, they are perfect the way they are. We can also treat them how I would want to be treated or how I would treat my mom. If you go out and constantly be mean to everyone and give them attitude, then they are going to do the same thing back to you. When you're walking to the store or walking to your classroom, smile at the people passing by. That will make them happy because even though you don't know who they are, you made them feel like you care.

Reflection:
I will use these thoughts on my overall daily life because it will help me when I want to get to know them. I will make sure I use these 6 ways when I first want to talk to someone and show them that I care. I will always walk around with a smile on my face and not give a face to someone I don't know. If someone is talking to me I will give them my full attention and show that I am listening to them. These 6 ways have gave me more confidence because I don't need to be afraid when I go up to talk to someone I've never talked to. This will also help me when I am getting interviewed for a job or talking to my teachers about extra credit or how to do the work. I will show the other person that I am interested in what they have to say or talk to me about. I will give them my undivided attention (as said by teachers here at school) and ask them questions if I have any. I will always smile when another person is looking at me, to be friendly. I will also encourage other people to talk about themselves and have that confidence.
