Class Evaluation

1. What I liked about this class is that Mr. Haymore always kept the class with a smile on their face. He gave us easy assignments and always made sure that we chose the right no matter what. He taught us the 7 habits and 6 ways to make people like you. I will remember and take charge of these throughout my life.
2. I honestly have no dislikes about the class. I always looked forward to coming into his class and learning something new each day I had him.
3. Some recommendations for the class would be to make the class laugh once in a while and tell stories that maybe something you did over the weekend and the break.
4. The highlight for me in this class was meeting new people and getting to know them more. Another highlight was the Christmas music that Mr. Haymore would play would always get me into the Christmas spirit.
5. I believe although I did get lazy on some parts of the class, I did do my best overall to get a good grade. I put in my deepest thoughts and ideas for each post we had to do.
6. Yes I am reading and writing in both sections of my journal. I always write down goals so I know what exactly I would like to accomplish for myself throughout the years.
7. I am committed to being a CTR person everyday because I want the best in life for me. The only way I am going to be the best is by not making bad choices. I will keep the 7 Habits and 6 Ways in my mind and live life through those two.

Electric Vehicles

I think the invention of electric vehicles has both a positive and a negative outcome. Some positive outcomes would be they are environmentally friendly. The electric cars do not through out pollutants from the outside of the car like trucks or regular gas cars. Another benefit from these cars is they are performance benefits. The electric motors provide quiet, smooth operation and stronger acceleration and require less maintenance than internal combustion engines. Some negative outcomes for the electric cars are the driving range. The range for these cars are typically limited to 60-120 miles on a full charge although some other ones are able to go up to 200-300 miles. Another negative outcome is the recharge time. These cars take 4-8 hours to get a full charge.  In addition, battery cost can be quite expensive as well. If something happens to the battery you will have to change it about 2 times when something wrong happens. The weight will also be con because the battery packs used for these cars and heavy and can take up considerable space. Although the many cons, I believe that these cars will be beneficial because there will be less smoke and pollution coming into our area. They are also time consuming so you only have certain time to use this vehicle and once it's over you must go home and recharge it for the next full charge.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

Habit 1. Be Proactive
"Habit 1 is the key to unlocking all the other habits and that's why it comes first. It says, "I am the captain of my life. I can choose my attitude. I'm responsible for my own happiness and unhappiness. I am in the driver's seat of my destiny, not just a passenger."

Being proactive is about taking responsibility for your life. You make all the decisions when it comes to emotions or problems. Proactive people focus on the main things first and then worry about the little things after. If you were to put the little things in life first, then you wouldn't be able to squeeze in all the bigger things in life. You gotta be time managed. Have a schedule or a planner of what first things you need to get done and then if you have time, you will do the little things after.

Habit 2. Begin with the End in Mind
"Control your own Destiny or someone else will." (Jack Welch)

If you don't control your own destiny then other people will think they are able to tell you what to do no matter what. This refers to always keeping the end of your life in mind to help you evaluate everything else that comes before. you will start to make a plan on how you will get to that point in your life. You have to start things with a clear idea of your destination, so the steps you take towards is in the right direction. No matter what, whether you are busy or having second thoughts you should always be doing what's most important to you. You gotta ask yourself questions to determine your objectives and the reasons behind wanting to achieve them. When you know the way your future will look like for you, then you will be so motivated to continue on your dreams to make your future look the way you want it to look. The future is what should motivate you to do better. You are the only one in charge of your destiny and you shouldn't let anyone else control the things you do. As long as you know that you are in the right direction towards your future then don't let anyone else in the way of that. Sometimes it doesn't hurt to ask for help. If you need it you can ask your mom or a close friend to help you get in the right path. If you let all the bad kids tell you what to do then you will be under their spell. The best thing is for you to walk away from the negativity they bring towards you and do better in life.

Habit 3. Put First Things First
"Organize and Execute around properties"
This habit talks about how you should put the urgent things first. For example if you have a test for one of your classes the next day, you should stay home and study for it. You always put what's important first and then do everything else that isn't important after. You may have an essay due but you chose to listen to music, hang out with your friends etc. That's being a procrastinator. You always say you're going to do it but you get busy doing other things that it never gets done.

Habit 4. Think Win-Win
" Think win-win or no-deal"
This habit is talking about how you should always think positive about yourself and never negative. Positive thoughts will help you be successful in life and it will let you know that you are going to achieve all those goals you have set for yourself. If everyone you know is giving you a hard time then ignore them. Don't let their negative comments affect your way of living and succeeding. Just always keep in mind that you can do it or you are going to make it. That will help you stay confident with your school work by just repeating to yourself those words. In the end you will only have yourself and your happiness. You are the only one that knows what you want to do and how you are going to achieve that. You will be the one to pick yourself up every time that you feel like falling and giving up.

Habit 5. Seek first to Understand, then to be Understood
"Diagnose before you Prescribe"

What this habit is talking about is that you must first understand what is going on and then you will be understood by the people. You can't expect for someone to understand what you are teaching them if you don't understand what you are learning. Before you do anything you must stop to think about what you want to do. If someone is talking to you, you should listen to what they have to say and then add after any comments or questions you have for them. Don't interrupt them if you don't know what is really going on. Don't assume someone is doing good because they have a smile on their face. Take the time to understand what people are going through in order for them to understand you. You both can understand each other by listening first and then talking after. Before you criticize someone, wait until they tell you the whole story. In life there is always going to be a "listen before you speak," a "try before you want to quit" etc. You must know how to do the things before you want to jump into conclusions and judge someone by the outside. Don't judge a book by it's cover will take you a long way. You learn how to take the time to get to know someone without being judgemental.

Habit 6. Synergize
"The whole is greater than the sum of its parts."

To put it simply, synergy means "two heads are better than one." Synergize is the habit of creative cooperation. It is teamwork, open-mindedness, and the adventure of finding new solutions to old problems. But it doesn't just happen on its own. It's a process, and through that process, people bring all their personal experience and expertise to the table. Together, they can produce far better results that they could individually. Synergy lets us discover jointly things we are much less likely to discover by ourselves. It is the idea that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. One plus one equals three, or six, or sixty--you name it.

Habit 7. Sharpen the Saw
Four Dimensions of Self-Renewal: Physical, Mental, Spiritual, Social/Emotional.

Habit 7 is all about keeping your personal self sharp so that you can better deal with life. It means regularly renewing and strengthening the four key dimensions of your life which are your body, brain, heart, and soul. Balance is always better and neglecting certain areas of your life could result in detrimental consequences. To perform at your peak, you need to strive for balance in all four areas. This is so critical and so vital because the quality of one dimension of life ultimately affects the other three. Additionally, you regularly need time to rejuvenate the best thing you've got going for yourself - you. Sharpening the Saw is all about relaxing and unstringing your bow.  Sharpen the Saw keeps you fresh so you can continue to practice the other six habits. You increase your capacity to produce and handle the challenges around you. Without this renewal, the body becomes weak, the mind mechanical, the emotions raw, the spirit insensitive, and the person selfish.

 Final Reflection
These 7 habits are a good way to help better myself. These 7 habits will help me get through life because I know now that I need them to help keep an open mind. For as long as I shall live I will remember to always be proactive. I will show my fellow workers that I know how to take responsibility for my life. I will face challenging moments with the help of them but mostly myself. I will always think about the end so I know where exactly I want to end up doing with my life. No matter how bumpy my road may be, I will always think win-win. I will be confident in what I do. If at first I don't succeed, I will learn the mistakes I did wrong and better myself more. I will seek to understand what I need to then seek to be understood. Everyday of my life I will synergize will my peers and show teamwork together. Finally, I will Sharpen the Saw. Meaning I will keep my body, mind, heart, and soul in balance to help get myself through life. I will always keep myself relaxed and not stressed.

Importance of Setting Goals

Setting goals is important because you will know exactly what you want to do as you continue on with life. Throughout your life, there will be many things you would like to accomplish but eventually you will forget about them and not accomplish anything. By you writing down the goals you would like to accomplish, you can always go back to those goals and it will be a priority to your life. It will be a homework for you to do everyday of your life until you pass away. How would you feel if you wanted to achieve something and you worked your butt off and finally made that goal come true? I know I would feel happy because I will know that I will be able to accomplish anything in life. I could have accomplished them on my own or some people might have helped me. You feel good about yourself accomplishing goals and you will want to accomplish more. You won't let anyone that is negative towards you get in the way because you know you can do it and that's all that matters. Don't let the people that tell you "you're not going to make it" or they start laughing at you get in the way of your success. In fact, prove them wrong so they know that their words don't affect you. You know how to block the goal busters out of your life and keep the goal helpers in. In the end, the only person you will have is yourself because eventually everyone is going to go their separate ways and you will have to learn how to do everything on your own. By setting the goals, it gives you a long term vision and a short term motivation. It focuses on your acquisition of knowledge, and helps you organize your time and your resources so that you can make the most of your life.

Freelance writing

I'm so glad that today is Friday. That means that the weekend is here!! I'm hoping my weekend goes good because tomorrow I have a Halloween party at Oxnard and then on Sunday I'm going to John's Incredible Pizza for my cousin's 6th birthday party. Overall I can't wait to have some fun. Today for our school we wore pink to support Breast Cancer Awareness. There is also a blood drive going on. I wish I had the guts to donate blood but I'm too scared. I have a tendency of overthinking and I do that for the blood drive. I start thinking "Oh what if I faint" or "What if they can't find my vein" etc etc. Next year for sure I am going to donate blood because it's my last year at school and I would like it to be memorable. Yesterday I seen all over my Facebook and Snap chat about the Boys in Blue. I personally am not a baseball fan but I gotta admit they are doing good. Hopefully they can keep it like that and go all the way.

Six Rules to Make People Like You

Rule 1. Become genuinely interested in other people

If you want other people to like you, you must become interested in them. If someone is taking their time to talk to you about their life, be interested. That means that you mean something to them. A lot of people tend to keep their problems to themselves. I know for a fact that I would want someone to show interest when I am talking to them about something. When people notice that you are interested in what they say, they will like you more. It shows that you care about what they say. People will like to talk to you and not get bored because you have good communication skills. This will also show that your listening skills are good as well. A quote that I found says "Surround yourself with people who talk about visions and ideas, not other people." This quote is saying that if the people you are hanging out with talk bad about other people, are they the people you want to be associating with? Be with people that will listen to your story and help you make it better not bring you down. I will apply this rule by having an interest in what people say. I will be a good listener and make sure my friends know that I care about what they have to say.

Rule 2.  Smile

Rule 3.  Remember names
If you want people to like you then you will remember their names. When you meet someone for the first time, you introduce yourself and the first thing you tell them is your name. This will help when you need to ask them for help on something or just want to hang out. A person's name is how you will be able to find them throughout the world. Without knowing the name of someone then you won't be able to get that help that you need. Maybe when someone mentions a person's name, so many memories come back into mind from back then when you guys would hang out. Your name is also how you will go on with life. If you do something good that affects the whole city, everyone will remember who you are. When they see you around, a big smile will appear on their face because they know the change you did in the world. Some ways for you to try to remember people's names are by concentrating on what the person is talking about. When they tell you their name make sure to be paying attention so you won't miss it and have to ask the person again. Another example would be to repeat the name 2-3 times in your head just so that it really sticks in your brain and you won't forget later on.

Rule 4. Be a good listener. Encourage others to talk about themselves
To get people to like you, you must be a good listener. You gotta show the other person that you know how to pay attention to what they have to say. When they are talking about something, you make eye contact with them to show that they have your attention. If you have to say something, let them finish what have to say and then talk after them. If you interrupt them while they are speaking then that's being rude. Show that they have all of your attention because who knows, maybe it's your teacher talking and then she asks you a question to make sure you were paying attention to her lecture. If someone knows that you aren't a good listener then they won't want to take the time to talk to you because they will feel like you don't care. By showing them that you know how to pay attention and care about what they say, they will like you more than when you aren't paying attention. To encourage others to talk about themselves is to make sure they have a high self-esteem. No matter what rude comments people might say about them, they keep their head high and go on with life. They can speak highly about themselves because that's how they feel. They know they are smart, or pretty, or nice because that's what they want to be.

Rule 5. Talk in terms of the other man's interest

By talking in terms of the other man's interest, it shows that you care about their likes and dislikes. It's a way of respect towards them because the other person will know that you listen to what they have to talk about. Even if you don't find it interesting, don't just talk about your interest towards something. You have to give the other person a chance to talk about themselves and the things they find interesting to the things they don't find interesting. When that person is speaking, show that they have all your attention and ask questions if you have to, just to show that you are interested in what he/she is saying. When you take the effort to find out what interests the other person, the reward will be an enlargement of your life each time you speak to someone. The more people will like you when they know that you actually want to know their likes, dislikes, values etc. You take the time to listen and pay attention to what they have to say and that's being respectful. If you both have something that interests you in common, then mention it. The other person would like that you go along with the conversation and see any similarities and differences in each other.

Rule 6. Make the other person feel important--and do it sincerely
What this rule is saying is to always make someone feel like they are important no matter what. No one in their life ever wants to feel like they're unwanted. That makes someone feel bad about themselves because then they stay up in the middle of the night wanting to be like someone they're not. They will feel insecure about themselves, start dressing and speaking differently as well. I know that if someone didn't make me feel important then I would be hurt because everyone in life wants to mean something to someone. Whether it's your family or friends or people you work with or go to school with. No one should ever go through the fact that someone doesn't want them so they need to change their whole appearance. We should show respect towards them. Show that no matter what flaws they may have, they are perfect the way they are. We can also treat them how I would want to be treated or how I would treat my mom. If you go out and constantly be mean to everyone and give them attitude, then they are going to do the same thing back to you. When you're walking to the store or walking to your classroom, smile at the people passing by. That will make them happy because even though you don't know who they are, you made them feel like you care.

Reflection:
I will use these thoughts on my overall daily life because it will help me when I want to get to know them. I will make sure I use these 6 ways when I first want to talk to someone and show them that I care. I will always walk around with a smile on my face and not give a face to someone I don't know. If someone is talking to me I will give them my full attention and show that I am listening to them. These 6 ways have gave me more confidence because I don't need to be afraid when I go up to talk to someone I've never talked to. This will also help me when I am getting interviewed for a job or talking to my teachers about extra credit or how to do the work. I will show the other person that I am interested in what they have to say or talk to me about. I will give them my undivided attention (as said by teachers here at school) and ask them questions if I have any. I will always smile when another person is looking at me, to be friendly. I will also encourage other people to talk about themselves and have that confidence.

Free Lance Writing

This week is homecoming week. Our school decided to have a spirit week. On Monday it was character day, Tuesday was Pajama day, and today is sports day. We get to come wearing a shirt from any of our favorite teams. It can be basketball, baseball, football etc. This is to show that we have spirit when it comes to the homecoming game on Friday and the dance on Saturday. This week for me has been pretty good. Usually my weeks can go stressful and bad but so far its been good. I can't wait until Saturday so I can go out and have fun. After homecoming I will also be going to my friend's 16. I'm super excited because it's been so long that I went out to dance and hang out with friends and family.

Another tragic news that happened this past week is the mass murdering in Las Vegas. It was having a festival with a famous country singer when all of a sudden you started to hear gunshots. Everyone at first thought they were fireworks but eventually they didn't see the color explode in the sky. Everyone was so scared, screaming, and running for help. People started to drop to the floor for cover. Mothers got on top of their teens to make sure nothing happened to them. This event turned out to be the biggest mass murdering since a while now. Las Vegas is still in pain and have questions to why someone would want to do something like that. I give my condolences out to all the family and friends that got hurt or lost a loved one that day. May God heal their loss and bring comfort to their life. #PrayforVegas

The Six Attitudes of High Achievers

1. Make no small plans: Plan Big
Related image

Why settle for less when you can settle for more? When it comes to making a plan about your future, make a big plan. Plan big on what you want to do, what college you want to go to etc. Have a big plan so that later on in the future, you don't get stuck having to think about what you're going to do. You will be ready and set because you planned ahead of time. You basically have your whole life planned out. You just gotta stick to it. You have to stay committed and follow the dreams you want to achieve. If you keep on going, you will make it far. If you fall down once and decide to stay down, where will you go? Learn from that mistake you did, and let it shape you to the person you want to be. Let the consequences teach you a lesson and you continue going. Like my quote says "If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail." This is saying that if you don't have a plan set for yourself, the you don't know what you want to do in life. You're just going to go where the wind takes you. What if the wind takes you down the bad road? How will you get the future that you want while doing drugs, drinking, stealing etc.? That's why it's better to have a plan, so you know exactly what you want to achieve. In order for me to achieve this attitude of high achievers, I will start to make a plan of my future and have a mindset of what I will accomplish in life. I will make my future with the plan I have set for myself. Whether it's to become an RN, or a Psychologists, or a teacher, I will know what I want to do as soon as I make a plan for myself.

2. Do what they Fear

High achievers do what they fear. Once you conquer your fears, then fear is nothing to you. You feel like you are able to do anything in the world because you are not afraid to do what scares you the most. Someone somewhere right now is jumping off a cliff or going skydiving because it's what fears them the most. For example, there was a man that jumped from a plane, 25,000 feet up, and landed on a net on the floor. As he jumped he used no parachute. How many people do you know will go out and do that right this second? I know I probably would chicken out and say "Heck No!" Everyone in life will be afraid of something. Me, for example, am afraid to speak out or present in front of an audience. I will go up and turn red and lose my train of thought and keep saying "umm." I know sooner or later I will conquer that fear. One day I'm going to go up and speak like nothing is wrong. For me it all takes time. I can also go out and do the unthinkable like climb Mount Everest or jump off from a tall building, I don't know. Another one of my fears were roller coasters. I hated them so much that I never like to even look at them because I would start to feel sick. One day I went with my friend to SIx Flags and they made me get on all the rides over there. After I got off, I was like "Wow! That was really fun!" The point is that once you get over the fear that you have, you won't be afraid to do anything. You will feel INVINCIBLE!

3. Willing to Prepare
If people have a goal they would like to achieve when they get older, they will make a plan and prepare for it. For anyone that wants to be successful with their future, they will have a prepare on how to accomplish that goal. For example you must know what you will be doing during high school to get the grades, what college you are going to, how long do you plan on staying there etc. The future starts when you prepare for it. If you don't prepare then you don't have a future. No preparation for a future is like a boat without a sail. If you don't have a sail, then you are going where the wind takes you. That wind can take you somewhere that is good or take you somewhere that is bad. Same thing when you prepare. If you are not any types of prepared or at least somewhat prepared, then how you will get there? There's no future. For example you can say that you're going to throw your mom a birthday party, but then you don't prepare for it, how is it going to happen. Months go by and it's her birthday and it's like well what happened to the party. You have to tell them you didn't get to preparing for it because something came up. You just put the idea out there but never really planned for it and made it happen. Don't let that be the case with you. A plan leads to a successful future for you and all your dreams accomplished. Make sure to stick with your word and go for it. Don't let other people with no plan distract you from yours.

4. Willing to Risk Failure
High achievers are willing to risk failure. Everyone in there life will win and lose. We have to learn not to let the failure part get in the way. If we fail and let the failure get into our head, then we won't succeed in life. Everyone must know to learn from your mistakes. Let that lesson teach you how to be better for future businesses or anything in life. If you fall get back up again and do it again. NEVER GIVE UP! If you don't try something new in your life because you're afraid of failure, then how will you get anything done. For example, Martin Luther King Jr. He was fighting for the equality and freedom of all blacks. Even when he knew the whites wouldn't listen to him and the blacks were still going to be discriminated against, he never gave up. He fought on to try to get the freedom for all blacks. A quote from Dr. Martin Luther King is "We must accept infinite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope." By him saying this, he means that no matter how much disappointment they get, they will never give up and always have hope. He will reach his goal to get the freedom for blacks. He wants for his kids and everyone for one day not get judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

5. Teachable
High achievers are teachable. They are willing to understand the assignment and help other kids that need help and don't get what they have to do. They aren't afraid to get out thee and make new friends. They are able to go in front of the classroom and teach the whole class if they were able to. They have the ability to learn and and then after they get it, they can go and teach their classmates or parents etc. They can tell the whole wide world the new things that they learned in school. For example in 1st grade when the teacher is teaching the kids to count from 0-10. If the teacher sees that one student know the method on how to get their then she and/or he will send the kid to help another classmate that is struggling with the math. That's someone who is teachable. He and/or she is able to explain what they learned to someone else with no problem. They can be a mini teacher for all the other student as well.  In the picture I have chosen, it states "Be TEACHABLE. open your mind, learn and grow. The more you listen, the more you know." This talks about how if you have the ability to be open minded, then you will be able to learn anything. The more that you go out and learn, the more things you will know for later on in the future. Knowing more things will help you grow as well. For example, when you go to college and study really hard on the bones and muscles to become a Doctor, it will pay off for when you are helping a patient. All the other people that didn't take the time to study will be confused. That's when you know that you had the time to open your mind, learn and grow.

6. Have Heart

High achievers have a heart. No matter what problems they might be going through, they still manage to keep a smile on their face. They always want to help when someone isn't feeling good or they're feeling sad. They can be going through many problems themselves but will still be there for you. If they see someone in need of help with grocery, they won't hesitate to walk over to them and offer to help them take it. They will always want to do good in life and never bad. They will choose the right when it comes to something. If they see trash or a bottle on the floor, they don't wait for someone to tell them to pick it up. They will pick it up themselves and throw it away because it's the right thing to do. Another example would be when they volunteer at a hospital or a can food drive. They want to help out and show that they actually want to be a part of their community. Being involved is a way to show that you have a heart because it shows to other people that you care about making the world a better place. Don't hesitate to do good. "The real beauty of someone is one with a good heart." This quote is saying that it doesn't matter about your insecurities that you might have, if you don't have a good heart then people won't like you.

Free Lance Writing

On this day, September 11, 2017 marks 16 years since the World Trade Center attack. (Twin Towers). My feelings towards this horrible attack is sad, angry, and disappointed. I feel so bad for all the people that were present in the attack and all the people that lost their lives as well. The country should not have gone through that much pain losing their loved ones or having to live through the dabre let out after both towers collapsed straight to the ground. The people on the airplanes should not have gone through the fact knowing that they weren't going to make it out of the airplane that were high jacked. I am angry towards Osama bin Laden for setting up all this terror towards the tower. No one deserves to die, but in his case he did because he killed thousands of people. Innocent people that did nothing wrong. All they were doing was working or trying to get from destination A to destination B. Osama had no right to create this whole terrorist attack and then believe he wasn't going to get caught. He killed two of his people then he ended up killing himself as well. What I mean by that is that he set himself up for the task. I'm really sorry for all the people that lost a loved one. If i was able to send them all sorry letters, I would. I want them know that they are not alone when it comes to this day.
